Thigh lift (femoroplasty)

Femoroplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at skin lift and reshaping of the inner and outer thigh. This procedure is often combined with liposuction. It helps improving the thigh contour which is nearly impossible to achieve by diets and exercise.
Process of femoroplasty:
A surgeon evaluates the condition of the skin. A surgery method is selected depending on its elasticity degree. There are two techniques of making incisions: medial and vertical. Medial technique involves making an incision in the crease beneath a buttock towards the groin.
In case of vertical technique an continuous incision is made from the groin down to the knee. Using it a surgeon can remove a lot of excess skin, make thighs more tight and elastic, reduce their volume. After a massive weight loss the removal of sagging skin on the buttocks and back thigh is added to the scope of procedure.
In this situation a surgeon can combine two plastic surgeries – buttock lift and thigh lift – into one procedure. An incision starts above the hip bone and goes ahead over the buttock to the upper point of the intergluteal fold. There the skin is detached from other tissues and lifted. The excess fat is removed, the wound is closed and evenly sutured.
Preparation to thigh lift surgery:
Preoperative preparation starts with a standard clinical examination. Biochemical blood and urine tests are ordered. Blood is checked to reveal hidden viruses and infections (syphilis, AIDS, hepatitis, etc.).
The lung health status is monitored by X-ray examination and the cardiovascular system condition is inspected by electrocardiography. If the results of all tests are within normal limits and no pathological abnormalities or infections have been detected the correction surgery is scheduled for a certain day. Consultations are held with an anesthesiologist and surgeon who will perform the correction procedure. During consultations all procedure details are discussed, goals and expected results are determined.
For a week preceding the procedure it is recommended to stick to a diet excluding heavy and high-fat foods, alcoholic beverages, strong coffee. No eating and drinking is allowed 8 hours before surgery.
Surgery/procedure duration: 1-2 hours
Anesthesia: general anesthesia
Postoperative period:
A patients stays at the clinic under doctor’s supervision for 2 or 3 days after plastic surgery. The wounds are treated with antiseptic solutions and sterile bandages are changed daily. In a few days a doctor removes the drain tubes left in place to drain away lymph. The stitches are fully removed in 2 weeks.
It is very important to refrain from thermal procedures such as sauna during the postoperative period. Intense physical activities should also be avoided. A patient must wear special compression garments for 3 months. They help reduce swelling, muscular load and remove pain.
In case of severe pain a doctor can prescribe analgesics. Optional antibiotic therapy can be introduced. A patient will be able to return to a normal life not earlier than in 4 weeks after correction. The result of plastic surgery will become visible right after the end of recovery period. But the final result can be evaluated in a half a year at the earliest. By that time the scars will turn pale, the folds and stretch marks will disappear and the thighs will get slim and fit look.
